Helping Small Community Organizations

Sustain Computer Technology

    On the Inside

Mission

The LCLMT Project seeks to research open source software and provide instructional materials to help the staff and volunteers of public libraries, churches, and other small community organizations minimize the cost and hassle of maintaining computer technology in their organizations.

Project Goals

Here are my initial goals:

  • To develop hardware, software, and networking models that minimize the cost and hassle of acquiring and maintaining equipment and software;
  • To document the detailed steps in installing, configuring, and administering these models;
  • To provide documentation in electronic format at no cost to these organizations;
  • To create and deliver instructional and training materials in the use of software included in the models at no cost to these organizations;
  • To inform these organizations and the community at large of new products, services, and other developments which contribute to a low-cost, low-maintenance computing environment.
